site.btaTourism Minister Comments on Increasing Lanes at Durankulak Border Checkpoint
Caretaker Tourism Minister Evtim Miloshev said in a Nova TV interview on Sunday that there is a possibility to increase the lanes at the Durankulak border checkpoint (BCP). Currently, this plan is at the concept stage, but talks have been held with the competent institutions.
Miloshev noted that Durankulak has become a very relevant place this year, with many Romanian tourists passing through the Danube Bridge and Durankulak border checkpoints.
He noted that this summer, the long-awaited repair of the Danube Bridge began which diverted the flow to Durankulak.
The season is very stable, the current results might make it the best so far, Miloshev said. He pointed out that the traditional markets are Europe and neighboring countries, and more exotic markets include Uzbekistan and Mexico.
"The efforts of the Ministry of Tourism should and are aimed at letting the world know about Bulgaria. Our opportunities are huge in terms of tourism," Miloshev stressed.
He added that Bulgarians travel more and more domestically, especially following the coronavirus pandemic. Bulgaria offers an awful lot of interesting places, the caretaker Minister of Tourism also noted.
