site.btaWater Rationed in Eleven Villages in Montana Region

Water rationing is introduced in four more villages in Montana Region due to the dry summer in the last two months, the local water and sewerage operator told BTA on Saturday. This brings the number of villages in the region where water is rationed to eleven.

Kopilovtsi, Glavanovtsi, Chemish, and Vidlitsa will have water half of the day. All four villages use water from local sources, the water in which has decreased significantly due to the lack of rain and the heat wave.

Water rationing has been in effect in Zlatiya, Mokresh, Vladimirovo, Ravna, Gorna Louka, MItrovtsi, and Gorna Verenitsa for around a month now.

There is no danger at present of water rationing being introduced in Montana, Vratsa, Berkovitsa, and Varshets and some 30 other settlements in the area getting their water from Srechenska Bara dam in the Balkan Range. The dam has nearly 14 million cubic metres of water out of a maximum of 15.5 cubic metres, the Montana water and sewerage operator told BTA.
