Customs officers at the Kapitan Andreevo Border Checkpoint stopped a truck coming from Turkiye and found 3,613 packages of smuggled medicines, the Customs Agency press service said here on Thursday.
The illegal medicines were found during a joint anti-smuggling operation by the Customs Agency, the Organized Crime Directorate, the Border Police, and the National Revenue Agency.
The cargo vehicle, driven by a Kosovo citizen, transporting goods in transit from Turkiye to Kosovo, arrived at the checkpoint on August 10. A routine X-ray inspection revealed some suspicious parts in the cargo. Customs inspectors checked the cargo and found six hidden boxes of undeclared medicine. These boxes contained 3,613 packages of pills, injection solutions, and vials of 24 different types of medicine, including anabolic steroids.
The illegal medicines were seized, and the truck driver was charged under the Customs Act.
