Rami Kiwan became the second Bulgarian boxer to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Olympic boxing tournament on Wednesday. After Stanimira Petrova reached this stage on Tuesday in the women's up to 54kg, Kiwan is now also just a win away from the medals in the men's up to 71kg category.

The European boxing champion defeated the top seed Shannan Davey of Australia by 5:0 (30:27, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27).

The Bulgarian was not at all bothered by his opponent's reputation and completely outclassed him, convincing all five ringside judges to give him each of the five rounds.

Kiwan was constantly attacking his opponent's head with left straight punches and Davey, who is the Oceania champion, looked completely unprepared for the Bulgarian's game.

In the quarterfinals, Kiwan will face the winner of the match between American Omari Jones and Taiwan's Kan Chia-wei.
