On the eve of an annual Buzludzha gathering, the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) will form a left alliance with The Left!, Rise up, Bulgaria and previous partners, the party’s press office said.

The BSP's interim leadership, elected by the party's National Council after the resignation of leader Kornelia Ninova, has set a course towards consolidation of the left. After a series of meetings and discussions, it will take place on the eve of observances of the 133th anniversary of the socialist movement in Bulgaria.

It will be launched on Friday in Stara Zagora, where the new leadership of the BSP is holding a meeting with a broad range of left formations, including The Left!, Rise up, Bulgaria, as well as all previous coalition partners of the BSP. A manifesto for joint actions and work of the Left will be proposed, discussed and signed.

All the participants are adamant that only the consolidation of the people of the left idea can give a perspective for Bulgaria as a social state with decent living conditions for every citizen.

"The road we are taking with our coalition partners gives us confidence that at the next elections our results will be significantly better", said acting BSP chairman Atanas Zafirov, quoted by the BSP press centre.

It is no coincidence that the traditional rally-meeting of the BSP this year is under the slogan "Together! The beginning is Buzludzha" and it will be attended by prominent left leaders, the party said. The rally will take place at 11.30 am on July 27 on Mount Buzludzha.

"It is very good that there will be almost 30% more socialists and supporters at the rally this year than last year," said Borislav Gutsanov, leader of the parliamentary group of BSP for Bulgaria and secretary of the BSP.

"This shows that people accept the new direction of the party. Buzludzha belongs to all socialists and I am glad that this year we will revive the idea," said BSP acting chairman Atanas Zafirov, quoted by the party's press centre.
