site.btaDanube Industrial Park in Svishtov to Receive BGN 27 Mln in Grants - Innovation Minister
Caretaker Innovation and Growth Minister Rosen Karadimov visited Svishtov on Wednesday for a meeting organized by the Municipality and the Ministry of Innovation and Growth on the occasion of the construction of the future Danube Industrial Technology Park in the city. Karadimov said that BGN 27 million of grant financial aid will go into this park.
The Minister said that the industrial parks should start operating as soon as possible, with the expected date being January 1, 2026. In the industrial parks, every investor can get a set of possibilities and options, with which they will be able to contribute to the development of the region, added Karadimov. These parks, along with infrastructure, are one of the most powerful drivers for overcoming the regional imbalance, he pointed out. The park in Svishtov is entirely a municipal park, which distinguishes it from the others and makes it more attractive.
Karadimov said that Bulgaria needs about 35 industrial parks, with various forms of financing, which after about seven years can lead to overcoming the demographic collapse in certain geographical regions. Investor interest in Bulgaria is growing, and it will increase further if the country enters the eurozone, he pointed out.
The Minister said that the Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) has developed a new strategy in which the limits on the support of public investments financed with European or national funds, such as industrial parks, have been removed.
The meeting also included the acting head of the BDB Supervisory Board, Delyana Ivanova, Mayor of Svishtov Municipality Gencho Genchev, Veliko Tarnovo Regional Governor Ivaylo Zdravkov, representatives of the Industrial Park, institutions and individuals related to its construction and development, as well as representatives of local companies.
Genchev pointed out that Svishtov is fully ready to implement the project for the construction of an Industrial Zone. He explained that nearly BGN 80 million are needed for all the conditions necessary to attract investors. Of these, BGN 12 million is the Municipality's own co-financing, which must be provided according to certain requirements, added Genchev.
