site.btaArtist Ivan Rusev Marks 70th Anniversary with Exhibition
Bulgarian artist Ivan Rusev will celebrate his 70th anniversary with an exhibition hosted by the Union of Bulgarian Artists here between July 4 and 31, the organizers reported. The project entitled Self-Determinations of Sculpture will feature works by Peter Tzanev, Galya Blagoeva, Gabriele Berger, Dimitar Nikolov, Elena Ivanova, Ivaylo Avramov and Kiril Kuzmanov, curated by Tzanev.
Tzanev shared that Rusev decided to invite a group of authors of different generations who share an outside observation of themselves and explore art as a form of mental action, emphasizing the process of self-determination of the creative act. He added that this project "seeks and describes a new kind of space in the art of sculpture".
Rusev was born in 1954. He graduated in Sculpture at the National Academy of Art in Sofia. He has created numerous sculptures including Gods of Medicine and the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Sculpture in South Park as well as The Marble town of Arts in Sculpture Park Ilindentci.
