The 5th Business Networking Evening: Europe and Beyond took place here on Wednesday evening. The event co-organized by 13 bilateral chambers of commerce was attended by the caretaker Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth Georgi Angelov, who said that industrial zones and parks will attract foreign investors and create new jobs.
The deputy minister added that this is a chance to reindustrialize Bulgaria and to overcome regional imbalances, which is why his Ministry is supporting the development and construction of 11 industrial zones and parks across the country with nearly BGN 207 million from the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
The sites will be developed mostly in Northern Bulgaria, in the cities of Ruse, Svishtov, Lovech, Sofia, Burgas, Stara Zagora, Vidin, Targovishte, Sliven and two sites in Shumen.
He added that procedures have been launched under the two EU business programmes: programme Competitiveness and Innovation in Enterprises and programme Research, Innovation and Digitalisation for Smart Transformation Operational Programme with a total budget of BGN 5 billion. They are also aimed at developing innovation and improving Bulgarian companies' competitiveness.
The forum aims to demonstrate the unity among the internationally oriented business in Bulgaria and to create new business opportunities for the members of the participating associations. Other participants at the event included the caretaker Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Nikolay Pavlov and the Head of the European Commission's Representation in Bulgaria Yordanka Chobanova.
