A total of 282 people were arrested and 266 of them were remanded indefinitely in a massive crackdown on the distribution of illicit drugs in the southern Turkish city of Adana. Twelve drug rings were disrupted, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya wrote in his profile on X.
This is the largest number of arrests made in a single police operation recently, Yerlikaya said.
The three-day effort, dubbed Narkocelik-21, was organized by the Adana Police Department. The police sent out 586 teams totalling 2,855 officers with 23 specially trained dogs, Yerlikaya said.
