The traditional annual international climb of Mount Ruy will take place in June 2024, the Tran Tourist Association said on Tuesday. Tourists from Bulgaria and Serbia will meet at the mount summit, climbing it from both sides of the border.

The organized hike from the Bulgarian side will start at 10 am on June 22 from the villages of Lomnitsa and Zabel. The route will also pass through the Rui Hut, where the mountaineers can take refreshments and food. The distance to the summit is eight kilometres in one direction. The meeting of the tourists from the both sides of the border will take place around 14 pm.

Mount Ruy is a border peak, so those wishing to climb it need to send a notification to the Border Police.

Climbing the mount is the most popular tourist event in Pernik region. The initiative is based on a memorandum of long-term cooperation between Tran and the Serbian municipality of Babushnitsa, signed in 2014.
