On this date in Bulgarian history:

1864: First railway goes under construction between Ruse and Varna.

1922: Diplomatic relations are established with Latvia at legation level.

1958: Diplomatic relations are established with Uruguay at legation level; promoted to embassy level in 1964.

1969: Bulgaria ratifies the Convention on the Non-Applicability of Statutory Limitations to War Crimes and Crimes against Humanity.

1997: Prime Minister Ivan Kostov forms a cabinet (in office until July 24, 2001).
