The head of the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute, Prof Christo Pimpirev, and the Deputy Director of the National Polar Research Centre, Dragomir Mateev, will attend the 46th Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting in Kochi, India. To be discussed there from May 20 to 30 are international legal, ecological, scientific, and tourist matters related to the management of Antarctica, the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute reported Saturday.

Bulgaria is a full consultative member along with 28 other countries. On its delegation to the 46th Consultative Meeting are also Tsveti Romanska and Sasha Raycheva from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Bulgarian delegation's members will hold many meetings with representatives of the Council of Managers of National Antarctic Programs (COMNAP), the European Polar Board (EPB) and many diplomats representing their countries, in relation to the future closer cooperation of Bulgaria with the Antarctic countries from South America and Asia.
