site.btaTransport Ministry to Hold Procedure for Selection of Rail Carrier

The Council of Ministers adopted a decision to conduct a procedure for the selection of a carrier for public transport by rail, including passenger transport throughout the country. The Government instructs the Transport Minister to conduct the procedure in accordance with the Public Procurement Act and in compliance with the requirements of Regulation (EC) No 1370/2007 of the European Parliament and of the Council of October 23 2007.  
  
It is envisaged that the contract for the provision of passenger transport services will be concluded for a period of 15 years from January 1 2025. In the event that the conclusion of the public service contract leads to a change of operator, it is envisaged that the rights and obligations of the employees employed by the current operator will be transferred and that certain social standards will be respected for all staff involved in the provision of the public transport service.  
  
Performance of the contract will be carried out using rolling stock provided by the State, as well as own rolling stock, under the terms and conditions laid down in the tender dossier.
