Ukraine’s Ambassador to Bulgaria Olesya Ilashchuk and the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Ruse Plamen Bobokov opened an exhibition on Crimea at the University of Ruse (northeastern Bulgaria). The occasion for the event is the two year anniversary since the beginning of the war in Ukraine.

The author of the exposition is Ukrainian Boris Merzlyakov - professional photographer and amateur artist.

Ilashchuk explained that the visual retrospective is dedicated to 10 regions of the Crimean Peninsula temporarily occupied by Russia in 2014. The project embodies a geographical map of Crimea, filled with various metaphors and symbols.

"This exhibition is proof that art can become a strong bridge between the past and the present, reminding us of the value of freedom and the need to defend it in all circumstances. It is a reflection of the pain, love and faith that united the Ukrainian people in their quest for peace and independence," said Ilashchuk.
