site.btaSofia University Students Win Medals at Mathematical Olympiad in Turkmenistan
Students from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski won gold and silver medals at the Open Mathematical Olympiad for University Students (OMOUS), Sofia University reported on Tuesday. The competition, which took place in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, between March 3 and 8, saw more than 500 students representing 70 universities across ten countries compete for the medals.
The Olympiad was conducted in two parts - individual and team. In the individual part, in which the competitors had to solve six problems in four hours, Antani Gospodinov, Kristiyan Garchev and Aleksandar Prodanov won three gold medals. Aleksandar Yanev, Violeta Kastreva and Ivayla Radkova won three silver medals.
In the team competition, in which the participants had to solve ten problems in two hours, Prodanov, Gospodinov, Kastreva and Radkova won the gold, while Yanev, Garchev and Petar Petrov won silver.
