Bulgarian athlete Valentina Dimitrova won the 6km sprint title at the World Summer Biathlon Championships in Otepää (Estonia).

She thus brought Bulgaria a second gold of the championships, after on Thursday Lora Hristova became first in the 7.5 km supersprint in the same age group.

The 21-year-old Dimitrova covered the course in 18:03.9 minutes after making two mistakes in the first of two shooting events. However, she showed a great run, especially on the second lap.

Lora Hristova remained in fourth place with three missed targets and 22.3 seconds behind Dimitrova.

At the 2023 championships in Slovakia, Hristova was the sprint champion and Dimitrova finished third.

Four other Bulgarians took part in the race - Stefani Yolova was 17th with three faults, Raya Adzhamova 43rd with five, Irina Georgieva 48th with six and Nikol Klenovska 50th with seven misses.
