site.btaCosmetics Producer Caught Discharging Industrial Waste Water into Arda River

The Regional Environmental and Water Inspectorate (REWI) in Smolyan has established that a cosmetics factory in Rudozem was discharging industrial waste water into the Arda River. REWI director Ekaterina Gadjeva said on Friday that the inspection was carried out following an alert from a citizen received on February 28.

Water samples were taken by the Regional River Basin Directorate and the Regional Laboratory of the Executive Environment Agency, and test results are still due. If a violation is established, administrative and punitive measures will be taken against the offender.
