A Turkish citizen wanted for fraud in Kyrgyzstan was detained temporarily for 40 days by a member of the District Court in Haskovo, the Court saod. O.A. (40 years old) was arrested on February 25 at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpointupon entering Bulgaria.

He is wanted for a fraud committed in April 2016 - under the pretext of buying a diagnostic medical device, he received from the head of a medical centre cash in the amount of USD 430,000 and used the money for personal needs.

The court determined that there is a danger O.A. to abscond and thereby obstruct the execution of the court order issued against him. The detainee has not been convicted, but at the same time is a foreign citizen and does not have a permanently established relationship with Bulgaria that would guarantee participation in the actual extradition proceedings.

The decision is subject to appeal and protest before the Court of Appeal in Plovdiv.
