The leader of the government-sharing GERB party, Boyko Borissov, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel, who was put into the government by GERB, will be unable to attend the expected government rotation on March 6 or 7 because they will be in Bucharest for a European People’s Party (EPP) congress. Borissov made the remark to GERB supporters in Kostenets, near Sofia, on Tuesday. Borissov, Gabriel and Bulgarian MEPs will attend the EPP congress to support Ursula von der Leyen for a second term at the head of the European Commission. “This is a congress with elections and we have to vote, I cannot be here,” Borisssov said.

Prime Minister Denkov said that he will tender the resignation of his cabinet on March 6 ahead of the government rotation expected in March between Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria and GERB.

“People have seen what our opponents can do, so we should stick to our policies, help Ukraine, be accepted into Schengen,” Borissov said.

At the same time, he noted that the people with whom GERB are supposed to negotiate are absent because they often travel.

“Members of the regulators are being replaced, Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) have most of the regional governors and want to take the only ministry that GERB has,” said Borisov reacting to a proposal for a governance memorandum by CC-DB.

“These nine months have not been the most successful for the country, but they have not been the worst either,” said Borissov, adding: “But if from March 7-8, we continue in the same way, it will be a disaster for both GERB and CC-DB.”
