More than BGN 9.5 million have been invested in the renovation of classrooms under a national programme for a modern, safe and accessible Educational Environment, Education Minister Galin Tzokov said. On Friday he and Deputy Minister Emilia Lazarova, inaugurated a new humanities classroom at Sofia’s Second English High School, his ministry said.
According to the Minister, a total of 642 schools and ten special education support centres have received funds for renovation of classrooms, reading corners and school libraries, as well as carrying out initiatives to encourage thinking, imagination and creativity as part of the learning process. Funds are also used to purchase materials and tools, as well as software.
The purpose of investing in new equipment is to make students active participants in the lesson and to allow them to learn more effectively," the Minister stressed.
"The new geography and history classroom was equipped and furnished with BGN 23,000 allocated under the Ministry's programme. A new interactive display has been provided, which will enable students to visualize and explore historical events, and geographical places, through dynamic and interactive presentations, and simulations," explained school principal Veselina Ivanova.
