The Council of Ministers allocated BGN 2,743,792 to finance projects in the countries of the Western Balkans, the Eastern Partnership, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, the Cabinet press office said on Wednesday.

The amount includes BGN 1,574,018 for 25 projects in the Western Balkan countries and BGN 560,701 for nine projects in Moldova, Armenia and Georgia. Vietnam is among the more distant countries covered by the aid package.

The funds come from the Foreign Ministry's budget for official development assistance and humanitarian aid. The choice of the projects, made together with the beneficiary countries, is in line with the tasks of the Bulgarian foreign policy, among which are strengthening the European perspective of the Western Balkan countries, boosting the socio-economic development of the partner countries, investment in the security and stability of the countries of Bulgaria's neighbouring regions.
