Dimitar Kovachevski submitted his resignation as Prime Minister, and with it the resignation of the entire government, to the registry office of Parliament in Skopje. Speaking to journalists, who were waiting for this act, Kovachevski expressed satisfaction with the work of his government and his confidence that after the elections on May 8 he will be prime minister again and the same pro-European parliamentary majority will lead the country to EU membership.
Of parliament leader Talat Jaferi, who will become prime minister of the technical government, Kovachevski said that he is an experienced politician. "I took over this function from a completely different position - managing corporations, so the style of work of the technical government will be different, but the country will keep its strategic course of Western orientation," Kovacevski said.
Talat Jaferi is also due to submit his resignation today, starting the process of selecting a technical government to prepare for the upcoming elections.
The two resignations will be established at a parliamentary session Friday, at which a new parliamentary speaker should also be elected. On Saturday, after receiving a mandate from the country's President Stevo Pendarovski to form a technical government, Jaferi is due to submit its composition and programme to parliament, and the vote on the cabinet will be on Sunday.
