Stories is the title of the exhibition that Laura Dimitrova and Stefan Altyakov are organizing together. The exposition will be presented at the Union of Bulgarian Artists (UBA) in Sofia at Shipka Str. 6 from February 6 to 23, the UBA said on Friday.

"Small personal stories are part of the grand narrative of human history - rich, colourful, intriguing precisely because of the countless original and unique stories of different people," the organizers say.

They add that Laura Dimitrova and Stefan Altyakov tell their stories with the universal language of visual arts. Each of them uses personal authorial handwriting while complementing each other.

Laura Dimitrova was born in Sofia. She graduated from the National Academy of Art in Sofia, majoring in Textiles and Fashion under Prof. Dimitar Balev. She has been a member of the UBA since 1991. She is a professor of decorative arts and combinatorics and theory of the artistic image at Sofia University. She is a professor of Art and Design at Sofia University. So far she has presented 33 solo exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad - Paris, (France) Munich and Schwandorf (Germany), Belgrade (Serbia), Budapest (Hungary), and Warsaw (Poland). She lives and works in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Stefan Altakov was born in Sofia. He graduated in painting under Prof. Nayden Petkov at the National Academy of Art in Sofia. He has been a member of the UBA since 1985. He is a professor of painting and colour theory at Sofia University. He was Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education and Arts at Sofia University (2011 - 2019), Head of the Department of Fine Arts (2008 - 2016) and Head of the Department of Visual Arts (2016 - 2020). He has presented over 40 solo exhibitions and participated in over 200 group exhibitions, plein-air exhibitions and art projects in Bulgaria and abroad.
