In 2023, a total of 844 cases of vehicles with missing or defective sound insulation were detected, Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov said in a written reply to a question by MP Ivaylo Mirchev. The reply was published on Parliament's website, a BTA check showed on Thursday.

Stoyanov added that for the period from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2023, the number of cases of vehicles found to be noisier than allowed is 1,212, with 150 cases in 2021 and 218 in 2022.

"From the statistics presented, it is evident that the intensity of inspections carried out by the Ministry of the Interior for this type of violation of the Road Traffic Act has increased significantly over the last three years. Control over the roadworthiness of vehicles, including for noise above the established norms, will continue," the Minister noted.
