The members of Parliament are to fill the composition of the state bodies, including the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Administrative Court, and the regulators – the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) and the Commission on Protection of Competition (CPC), according to a report presented at the beginning of the plenary session on Thursday by National Assembly Chair Rosen Zhelyazkov.

Regarding the bodies whose mandate has expired, the National Assembly is to hold the election of nine members, including the chairman, deputy chairman, and secretary of the Committee for disclosing the documents and announcing affiliation of Bulgarian citizens to the State Security and intelligence services of the Bulgarian National Army.

The list of tasks before Parliament includes the election of: members of the Commission for Protection of Personal Data on the proposal of the Council of Ministers; Chief Inspector of the Inspectorate of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), and ten inspectors of the Inspectorate of the SJC; two members of the Supervisory Board of the Public Enterprises and Control Agency; Governor of the National Social Security Institute; two judges of the Constitutional Court; the Fiscal Council - five members, including the Chair, two Vice-Chairs and two members of the National Audit Office; Chair of the Commission for Public Oversight of Statutory Auditors and four members by the Chair’s recommendation; five members, including a Chair and deputy of the Commission for Protection against Discrimination; Chair and deputy of the Financial Supervision Commission, Chair and two members of the EWRC; seven members of the CPC, including a Chair and deputy; five members, including a Chair and deputy of the National Special Intelligence Devices Control Bureau; five members of the Supreme Judicial Council, and six members of the Supreme Prosecutorial Council.

Zhelyazkov also presented a reference on the members of the bodies with early termination of mandate, for which the National Assembly should also hold an election. These are the Chair and deputy of the and Unlawfully Acquired Assets Forfeiture Commission.

According to the report on unconstituted bodies for which Parliament should hold elections, these are three members of the Counter-Corruption Commission; a Chair and members of the National Council for Bulgarians living outside Bulgaria.
