Back in 1980, Bulgarian scientist Irma Zhelyazkova of the National Museum of Natural History at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (NMNH-BAS) decided to dedicate her life to gathering evidence of climate change, however, during one of her trips to the Pacific she disappeared. This is not a real story but the beginning of a fictional backstory that introduces participants to a NMNH-BAS escape room in Sofia.
The room entitled bioXcape was unveiled on December 8, 2023. Two to five players have an hour to try and find a way out. To do so, they must solve riddles based on scientific facts. When they give the correct answers, players hear audio messages from the missing scientist that contain clues to the next riddles or curious facts about rare species or climate change. Agility, resourcefulness and teamwork are among the assets that can help participants escape from the room.
The room suitable for anyone 13 or older. The use of smart devices is prohibited to help players immerse themselves in the game.
