The National Assembly will discuss at the second reading the 2024 budgets of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) and the State Social Insurance (SSI). The items are fixed as second and third for Thursday on the agenda, published on the Parliament's website.

Health insurance revenues for 2024 are estimated to increase by more than BGN 1.1 billion compared to those adopted by the 2023 NHIF budget act. Money for outpatient care is increased by 20% in the budget. Money for dental services is also increased by more than 20%. MPs decided to allocate another BGN 3 million for dental prostheses, and this proposal and many others will be decided in plenary.

In the budget of the SSI, the minimum social security income for self-employed persons is to be BGN 933, but no decision was reached on the minimum social security income for farmers and tobacco producers. From the beginning of August until December 31, 2023 the compulsory monthly insurance contributions for these individuals are calculated on BGN 780.

The bill provides that from July 1 all pensions granted until the end of 2023 to be updated by the 11%. From the same date, the minimum amount of the retirement pension for full retirement will rise from BGN 523.04 to BGN 580.57. The maximum amount of one or more pensions will remain at BGN 3,400. The old-age social pension will increase to BGN 307.07.
