site.btaPoor Mountain Hiking Conditions on Wednesday

Winds are expected to increase in the mountains during the day, the Mountain Rescue Service (MSS) told BTA. Strong wind is already blowing on mountain Vitosha near Sofia. 

Temperatures in the mountains are very high for this season, ranging from minus 4C to 4C. Snow cover of 20-30 centimetres is present everywhere. In many places the snow is drifting and walking would be difficult, mountain rescuers warned.

The MRS advised tourists to stay in the forested parts of the mountains and not to undertake hikes on ridges.

Lift facilities in winter resorts are not operational.

No incidents involving tourists were reported over the past twenty-four hours.
