Members of the Bulgarian community in Bosilegrad gathered on Tuesday at the press club of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) in the town on the occasion of the eighth anniversary of its opening. They took part in a discussion during which they shared the initiatives they are involved in to preserve Bulgarian culture abroad and the problems they face. The depopulation of Bosilegrad and the economic situation were identified as the main problems.
In her address, BTA Deputy Director General Evgeniya Drumeva pointed out that thanks to GLAS Association Head Alexander Dimitrov, the press club in Bosilegrad has continued to exist for eight years and to develop its activities. He also served as a kind of example, so BTA subsequently built press clubs in areas with large Bulgarian communities, she added.
"We have a press club in Taraclia, as well as in Skopje, since this year we have a press club in Odesa. Moreover, the ambition of the director general is to have BTA press clubs in all the Balkan countries neighbouring Bulgaria. We already have one in Bucharest since last year and also in Ankara since the beginning of this year. And more will follow," Drumeva said.
For his part, Alexander Dimitrov pointed out that he was very happy that the first BTA press club outside Bulgaria was opened in Bosilegrad.
