A Bulgarian Christmas market is opening on December 16 and 17 in the centre of Vienna (Kühnplatz 8), the Melange Bulgaren blog of the Bulgarians in Austria said.

The market will feature 14 stands with traditional food products, books, handmade chocolate cakes, Christmas souvenirs, candles, resin crafts and ceramics, made by Bulgarians in Austria and Bulgaria.

Austrian trade unions ÖGB and VIDA will be present at the event and can be consulted on social and labour issues. NGO Societas Bulgarica will be at a separate stand.

Children's workshops and a festive programme will be prepared by the pupils of the Bulgarian school there and the choir and dance group of the Bulgarian Cultural and Educational Organisation "Cyril and Methodius". The market is open from 11 a.m. on both days, until 6 p.m. on Saturday (December 16) and until 4 p.m. on Sunday (December 17).

The event supports the Bulgarian Christmas charity initiative and its "Give hope to a child in need" campaign.
