Speaking to reporters here on Friday, Finance Minister Assen Vassilev said that the tax collection measures are beginning to bear fruit. "For the first time in over 20 years, November will see the collection of more taxes than the State has spent, and we will have a drop in deficit from 0.8% to 0.6%, which allows us to calmly fit within a 3% deficit for December," he said. Vassilev talked to journalists after a meeting with GERB leader Boyko Borissov and Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria co-leader Hristo Ivanov about Thursday's election of National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) Deputy Governor and the elaboration of a regulation on appointments in regulatory bodies.

Vassilev commented that a large part of the fiscal measures entered into force on October 5, and collectability has risen significantly. "We are about to over-implement the budget with a deficit lower that the one set. We have a very clear framework for next year's budget; there are some things that need to be reviewed further in tax laws, but that gives a stable base," he commented. The participants in the meeting discussed the support for the 2024 State Budget Bill, he specified.

Borissov said that the NHIF budget and the 2024 State Budget Bill will be supported in Parliament.
