site.btaEducation Minister: Bulgaria's 2023/2024 School Year Has 548 Innovative Schools

Education Minister Galin Tzokov Friday said at the opening of a national conference with international participation on skills and innovation in education, that Bulgaria has 548 innovative schools in the 2023/2024 school year. The event focuses on professional development of pedagogical specialists, learning through play and STEAM education, the press centre of the Ministry of Education and Science said. 

Tzokov pointed out that the COVID-19 pandemic has been influential in the rapid adoption of more digital solutions. 

The event brings together over 400 school principals, teachers, institutional representatives, NGOs, education experts, media and other stakeholders. The organiser is the Centre for Creative Learning.

The forum will provide opportunities for dialogue and exchange of good practices in the development of key skills of teachers and students with the support of technology and innovative teaching methods. Topics such as motivation for lifelong learning, technology in support of inclusive education, STEM and STEAM education, and project-based learning, learning through play, and social-emotional learning will also be addressed.

Presentations and panel discussions with leading experts will take place. Representatives from Google for Education will present their report on the future of education. Special guest is Soren Thomsen, Head of Program Impact at LEGO® Education, Denmark. Globally, he is working to introduce play-based learning as an impact driver for learning that inspires and develops the "builders" of the future. Guests include other international speakers such as Olav Adami, founder of Fourcast for Education Belgium; Tolga Yildirim, manager of Space Camp - Turkiye's international space learning programs, Gonzalo Sanchez of Edpuzzle and others.
