The Kinomania film festival began on Thursday evening in Sofia. Culture Minister Krastyu Krastev said at the opening of the event that he liked cinema because it is closer to people's dreams than to reality. "Movies are my favorite time machine. They are a way to transport myself to other times and spaces. Kinomania is my personal film haven," he said. 
 
Kinomania has dedicated its 37th edition to Bulgarian screenwriter Vladimir Trifonov.

For his outstanding contribution to the development of the Bulgarian film industry and the international cultural exchange in the field of cinema, the Ministry of Culture posthumously awarded him the honorary plaquette "Contribution to the development of culture", Krastev said. The award was accepted by the closest person to Trifonov - Elena Raicheva.
