"I wish today at least the government to ensure normal and transparent elections in Bulgaria after all the chaos and mess that has been stirred up in recent days,"  Vice President Iliana Iotova told journalists after she exercised her right to vote in Sofia.

Today Bulgarians must be convinced that they are voting by their own will and their vote will be counted properly, Iotova added.

"I expect voter turnout to drop because of the mistrust that has once again arisen in the institutions. But I wish all Bulgarians today to go with even greater willingness and responsibility to vote and make the right choice. Many things have been taken away from us in recent years. It seems that someone is now trying to take away from us the most important thing - the right to choose", she said.

Iotova said she voted for a different Sofia, where little children will have the opportunity to choose their kindergarten safely and not wait for years. "To live in a city with clean air and where they will be able to walk the streets in peace. A city where it would not make any difference whether you live in the centre or in the outer neighbourhoods," she added.

Iotova said she had not familiarised herself with the report of the State Agency for National Security (SANS), which was sent to the Central Election Commission. I won't comment on it until I get to know it, she added.
