Bulgaria Air announced Thursday that it is suspending temporarily its Sofia - Tel Aviv - Sofia service after analyzing the security risks caused by the escalation of the Israel - Hamas conflict.

This air carrier said that ensuring the safety of passengers and crew has always been a top priority for the company, and the complication of the situation in Israel leads to a significant risk to the security of civilian flights to and from Tel Aviv.

They further explain that in the current situation each flight is subject to preliminary assessment and confirmation of the insurance coverage, making it difficult for the carrier to inform in due time the passengers of any changes on their reservation. "Flights have had to be cancelled for reasons that are beyond the company and that have arisen in the conditions of force majeure," the statement says.

Anybody who has booked a Bulgaria Air flight to or from Israel will be able to change the date within the next year at no cost.

The company also said that it will continue performing chartered flights for package tours to Egypt and Jordan according to schedule.
