Turkiye is building up forces along its border with Bulgaria near Kırklareli to counter illegal migration, targeting the main refugee route to Europe, according to experts.

According to Turkiye’s Ihlas news agency, special units (commandos) of the Turkish security forces will be deployed at checkpoints along the Turkish-Bulgarian border, which have been set up by the Kırklareli security directorate.

The special units will take part in operations to identify and arrest irregular migrants and smugglers organising the illegal migrant transfers from Turkiye’s interior to the borders.
