The Council of Ministers adopted Wednesday a National Strategy for Child and Youth Health and Paediatric Care 2030 and an Action Plan for Implementation of the National Strategy. It is the first separate national strategic document that focuses on child health care.

It builds on the objectives and details the child health policies set out in the national strategic documents - the National Development Programme BULGARIA 2030, the National Health Strategy 2030 and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

The strategy was developed following an assessment and analysis of the health and demographic situation on key indicators, including child mortality, and the implementation of national programmes related to improving child and adolescent health and paediatric care in Bulgaria.

Four priorities have been identified for the implementation of the objectives with corresponding areas of impact as follows: promotion of healthy lifestyle, effective treatment and prevention of diseases and disabilities, building an integrated system for comprehensive pediatric care, and human resource development for child healthcare.
