The ninth edition of the International Forum "Bulgarian Heritage" starts in Balchik this week. The three-day event will be attended by Bulgarian diaspora groups from Ukraine, Moldova and Romania. Participants from Bulgaria will also take part, organizer Marusya Kostova said.

The forum starts on August 24 with a folklore part, before which there will be a parade of the participants. It will pass through the main street in Balchik and will offer flowers to all the monuments it will pass by. On the second day there will be a competition programme., which will include all the ensembles from Ukraine, Moldova, Romania and Bulgaria, Kostova said.

Traditionally, the forum is accompanied by conferences on Bulgarian heritage. In 2023 the first meeting is dedicated to the 150th birth anniversary of Bulgarian national hero Vasil Levski. It will be led by Prof. Plamen Mitev from Sofia University. The second conference will be related to the ethnology of the Bulgarians and the moderator will be Prof. Elena Raceeva from Chisinau and Taraclia Universities in Moldova. Both conferences will be held at the Mill Tourist Centre, organizers said.

The Bulgarian Heritage Forum will end on August 26.
