Sofia, December 3 (BTA) - At its plenary sitting on Thursday, Bulgaria's Parliament transacted business as follows:

- voted, 77-0 with three abstentions, to elect Zornitsa Roussinova member of the Economic and Social Council; Roussinova, who served as deputy minister of labour and social policy between May 2016 and January 2017, was nominated for the position by the Council of Ministers;

- passed conclusively amendments to the Implementation of Penal Sanctions and Detention in Custody Act, vesting the administrative courts having jurisdiction over the places where the penal sanctions are implemented with powers to examine on the merits appeals against penal authorities' decisions and handle cassation reviews of such appeals;

- passed conclusively revisions to the Health Act, moved by GERB Floor Leader Daniela Daritkova, scrapping compulsory hospital treatment for persons who have contracted and carry an infection of anthrax, brucellosis, smallpox, viral haemorrhagic fever, diphtheria, Ebola Virus Disease, yellow fever, typhoid fever, malaria, poliomyelitis, severe acute respiratory syndrome, open tuberculosis, cholera, plague and COVID-19 and making such persons subject only to compulsory isolation; the Minister of Health, acting on a proposal by the Chief State Health Inspector, may order compulsory isolation for persons who have contracted and carry an infection of contagious diseases other than those listed above, as well as compulsory quarantine for their contacts; the Medicinal Products for Human Use Act was amended by the same bill, empowering the Minister of Health to order a suspension of the export of medicinal products from the territory of Bulgaria when a state of emergency or an epidemic emergency has been declared.
