BSP is the only alternative to the old model of governance in Bulgaria, said leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) Korneliya Ninova before the start of the traditional National Congress of the Left, where the party celebrates 132 years since the Buzludzha Congress and the establishment of an organized socialist movement in Bulgaria. The event is under the slogan "Buzludzha for Peace".

"We are for the protection of the Bulgarian national interest and preventing such a change in the Constitution that would change our national holiday, that would introduce dual citizenship for MPs and ministers, and that would erase Bulgarian memory. These are our most important messages. Our fight is for a social state, for justice and equal opportunities for all," Ninova stressed. In her words, BSP will continue to insist on "peace, stop the war and establish peace."

Ninova assured that BSP is ready for the local election and is entering these elections with the mood for victory.

The time has come for decisions and for the salvation of Bulgaria, its people and its dignity, Ninova added. “Last year at this time we were at the end of a government in which we participated. We were a government in resignation. But we stood in front of you with our heads proudly raised, because when the BSP governs, it proves that people are our first concern: with real things and to every Bulgarian citizen. The largest social policy was deployed in this government,” she stated.

According to her, for the past year there has been a "replacement of our battle for change" of the GERB model: “A deception against those who believed in the new young forces of change took place", she argued.

After the event at Buzludzha, the socialists will visit Shipka Peak, where they will lay wreaths and flowers at the Freedom Monument in tribute to the Bulgarian volunteers and the soldiers who gave their lives for the liberation of Bulgaria.
