site.btaPresident Radev Appoints Roussi Ivanov as Foreign Policy Secretary

December 4 (BTA) - President Rumen Radev has appointed
Roussi Ivanov as his secretary for foreign policy, Radev's press
 secretariat said here on Friday.

Ivanov has held a number of positions at the Bulgarian Foreign
Ministry where he began work in 1979. He has worked at the
departments for bilateral relations with European states,
regional European cooperation and coordination of EU affairs.

In 2001 he became part of the negotiating team for Bulgaria's EU
 accession. After the signing of the Accession Treaty between
April 2004 and July 2007 he became Bulgaria's first
representative on COREPER I, the Committee of Deputy Permanent
Representatives to the EU.  Between May 2012 and February 2014,
and between January 2019 and December 2020, he held the position
 of Director General for EU Affairs at the Foreign Ministry.

Ivanov served as charge d'affaires of the Bulgarian embassy in
Germany (2011-2012) and as Bulgaria's ambassador to Denmark
(2014-2018).

He received a master's degree from the University of
International Relations in Potsdam-Babelsberg and graduated from
 Sofia's University of National and World Economy. RY/PP
