site.btaDaily COVID-19 Positivity Rate at 44%, Recoveries Far Exceed New Cases

December 8 (BTA) - The Bulgarian healthcare authorities confirmed 2,764 new COVID-19 cases in the country in the 24 hours until Monday midnight after carrying out 6,260 PCR tests, according to information posted at https://coronavirus.bg. The positivity rate for the day was 44.15 per cent.

A total of 1,023,067 PCR tests have been performed in Bulgaria since the beginning of the pandemic, detecting 164,185 COVID-19 cases. At present there are 93,559 active cases. Currently hospitalized patients number 6,821, including 523 in intensive care.

The data also show 213 COVID-19 deaths on Monday, bringing the death toll to 5,010.

At 3,370, the number of patients who recovered from the infection in 24 hours was considerably higher than the number of new cases. The total number of recoveries so far is 65,616. /RI/VE
