site.btaBulgaria Suspends Flights to and from UK in Response to New COVID-19 Strain

Sofia, December 20 (BTA) - Prime Minister Boyko Borissov convened a working meeting here on Sunday with members of his Cabinet in response to the new COVID-19 strain, during which it was decided to temporarily suspend air travel between Bulgaria and the United Kingdom starting at 00:00 hours on Monday until January 31, 2021, Cabinet press service reported.

The meeting, attended by Deputy PM Tomislav Donchev, Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva, Transport Minister Rossen Jeliazkov and Health Minister Kostadin Angelov, focused on Bulgaria's response to the new COVID-19 strain spreading in the UK, which is reported to be more contagious.

Earlier on Sunday, Minister Angelov introduced a mandatory 10-day quarantine for all persons arriving from the UK, including Bulgarian citizens, which is effective starting 5:00 pm on Sunday, Angelov's Ministry reported. MY
