Sofia, January 2 (BTA) - Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov
and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic discussed transport
infrastructure and energy partnership on the telephone on
Saturday, the government information service said. The two
exchanged New Year's greetings and concurred that the excellent
friendly and goodneighbourly relations would continue to
developed actively in all areas of shared interest.

Borissov and Vucic discussed the progress in the construction of
the Europe Motorway, which will link Sofia with Serbia at the
Kalotina border crossing. The motorway is part of the
Trans-European Transport Network on the route between London,
Budapest, Belgrade, Sofia, Plovdiv, Istanbul and Kolkata.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister stressed that the first
17-kilometre stretch of the motorway between Dragoman and
Slivnitsa was completed in November, half a year ahead of
schedule. He is convinced that Sofia and Belgrade will be linked
by the motorway by the end of 2021.

Talking about energy partnership, Borissov said: "Amid the
COVID-19 pandemic, work on the energy projects in Bulgaria is
going on, and Serbia has also turned into a gas transit country.
Our efforts are focused on building one more interconnector to
Sofia with Serbia to guarantee the security of energy supplies."

The two officials stated that they would meet as soon as the
COVID situation allows.
