 January 4 (BTA) - The COVID-19 vaccine will start to be administered to teachers and care home residents and staff within ten days, Health Minister Kostadin Angelov said on Monday. He and Bulgarian Drug Agency Executive Director Bogdan Kirilov gave a briefing at Sofia Airport where the second shipment of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, this time of 25,000 doses, arrived.

The first shipment of 9,750 doses arrived on December 26.

A growing number of people want to be inoculated and a vaccine will be available to everyone who needs it and wants it, said Angelov. Bulgaria ranks 24th in coronavirus incidence and 3rd in mortality in the EU, he said.

Another 25,000 doses of the vaccine are due to arrive in 10 days. Mass vaccination will be rolled out in February or March and the logistics for it will be prepared by the end of January, said the Health Minister.

Four cases of side effects were reported by January 1, said Bogdan Kirilov. They were injection site pain, dizziness for 15 minutes and low-grade fever for one day. RI/DD
