site.bta772 New Cases of COVID-19 Confirmed in Bulgaria, 60 Patients Die in a Day

January 26 (BTA) - The Bulgarian healthcare authorities confirmed 772 new COVID-19 cases in the country in 24 hours on Monday after 13,540 tests. The positivity rate for the day was 5.7 per cent, according to information posted at http://coronavirus.bg.

The total number of COVID-19 cases confirmed in Bulgaria since the start of the pandemic is 215,589.

On Monday, the disease claimed 60 lives, bringing the death toll to 8,880. There are 26,582 active cases of COVID-19 in Bulgaria, including 2,822 hospitalized patients (279 in intensive care). The day saw 1,059 people recover from the disease. The total number of recoveries in the country since the start of the pandemic is 180,127.

Those vaccinated since the beginning of the vaccination campaign number 26,798, including 655 in 24 hours on Monday. Also, 9,414 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed so far among medical staff, among them 3,058 doctors and 3,076 nurses.

The largest number of new cases were confirmed in Sofia City, at 180, followed by Plovdiv Region, 91, and Bourgas Region, 43. RI/VE
