More than Lv 23 Million to Be Provided for
Improving Bio-security of
Farms, Lv 2 Million for Purchase of Private Forests
Sofia, February 2 (BTA) - The Agriculture, Food and Forestry Ministry has opened a call for projects under the Rural Development Programme, sub-measure Support for Investment in Preventive Measures to Mitigate the Consequences of Possible Natural Disasters, Unfavourable Climate Conditions and Catastrophic Events, which has a budget of 23.5 million leva, the Ministry said in a press release Tuesday. The support will be for preventing and mitigating the risk of infectious diseases among animals.
In another call for projects starting on Thursday, state forestry undertakings will be able to invest up to two million leva to purchase private forests. The aim is for small forest properties which their current owners are unable to maintain and service properly to be joined to state-owned woodlands. Two such campaigns were implemented in 2016 and in 2020. Purchases have been completed in respect of a total of 459 forest properties with an aggregate area of nearly 282 ha, worth a total of 1.753 million leva. RI/ZH
