site.btaPM Borissov: 57,000 Vaccines Expected Late Saturday

Sofia, February 27 (BTA) - During an inspection of a new wastewater treatment plant in the town of Chirpan (south-central Bulgaria), Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said that 57,000 vaccines are expected to arrive in Bulgaria by Saturday night, and will be distributed by the following day. The video of Borissov's visit to Chirpan was uploaded on his social network profile.

Regarding the upcoming reopening of restaurants on March 1, the Prime Minister underscored that people must realize the pandemic is not over, adding that caution, social distancing, consideration and self-preservation are of key importance. In his words, people must not forget that the pandemic is out there, and it is claiming lives.

Labour and Social Policy Minister Denitsa Sacheva told bTV on Saturday that no quantities of supplied vaccines are being held up, adding that each vaccines that has arrived in Bulgaria has been administered already. "All vaccines should be administered as they arrive and that is what we are doing," she said.

1,000 of all 4,500 social workers have expressed desire to be vaccinated. So far, 200 have been inoculated, she said.

According to Sacheva, the COVID-19 crisis will surely influence people's decision during the upcoming general elections. She vowed that GERB will not use the speed of vaccination will not be used for political purposes.
