site.btaCOVID-19 Update: 497 New Cases,Test Positivity Rate at 16.7%

March 8 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 260,308 after 2,971 tests identified 497 new infections on Sunday, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate stands at 16.7 per cent.

The capital Sofia tops the list of new cases with 160 positive tests, followed by Plovdiv with 30 cases and Pleven with 29.

The active cases are 36,807. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 5,776, including 456 in intensive care.

Another 385 COVID-19 patients were reported as recovered on Sunday, bringing the total to 212,887.

Twenty-one fatalities were reported, and the death toll now adds up to 10,614.

With 1,513 new inoculations on Sunday, 288,631 persons in aggregate have been vaccinated against the coronavirus, of whom 50,056 have received both doses. RI/DD
