Sofia, March 18 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 291,769 after 17,652 tests identified 4,201 new infections on Wednesday, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 23.8 per cent.

Sofia City tops the list of new cases with 1,097 positive tests, followed by Varna Region with 305 cases and Bourgas Region with 291.

The active cases are 49,597. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 7,804, including 609 in intensive care.

Another 1,641 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 230,457.

A hundred and thirty-six fatalities were reported, and the death toll now adds up to 11,715.

With 4,708 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 350,702 persons in aggregate have been vaccinated against the coronavirus, of whom 63,753 have received both doses. PP
